Syncytial virus cases are increasing

The number of hospitalized children suffering from syncytial virus is increasing.

On July 11th, Olga Arguedas, HNN’s director, explained that there are 117 children in the emergency area, however, 17 of them remain in critical condition.

Arguedas insisted that parents should not take their children to HNN if they present different symptoms, so that, children don’t get exposed to the virus. Nevertheless, she stressed that the hospital will look after them if there is no other option.

Six children have died as consequence of respiratory syncytial virus.
