The Border Police stopped a shipment of liquor that was hidden in a secret compartment of a truck driven by a man from Syria.
The arrest took place on Saturday night, in Guaycará de Golfito. The cargo is valued at more than one million colones.
The police report indicates that the truck carried several lighter boxes hidden in a modified compartment. This was located just below the truck drawer.
According to the Border officials, the driver tried to outwit the authorities by passing the load through an alternate route to the Control Checkpoint, better known as the Gamba. Nevertheless, the officers intercepted it.
