Tax officials won’t make calls over digital invoice

If you or your company recently implemented the electronic invoice, avoid becoming a victim of fraudsters and ignore calls from people who pose as tax officials.

In recent weeks, small entrepreneurs and liberal professionals have received telephone calls from alleged employees of the Ministry of Finance or Taxation, who asked to disclose private data, install software or offer an “accompaniment” in the use of the digital invoice. But they are impostors.

Carlos Vargas, general director of Taxation, said they have received audios of people warning about the attempted fraud.

We call for citizenship. The Ministry of Finance is not requesting this type of information. Much less install programs or make a mirror on the computer. We do not have the competence to do it, nor are we doing it,”

said the Minister.

Vargas added that in relation to the digital signature, this is a document that complies with very sophisticated security protocols, which makes it very reliable, but insisted that the population must avoid the provision of personal information over the phone.

The only communications that Taxes send to taxpayers are made through the ATV platform message box or through personal mail, however, in no case are hyperlinks or links included, nor is information requested from users.
