The batteries you buy this Christmas will bring smiles to the deaf

More than 70 thousand people live in Costa Rica with partial or total deafness, but it is estimated that 86% of them speak perfectly, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Census. (INEC).

They need the support of hearing aids. Therefore, a campaign aims to give them a very Merry Christmas this year.

The idea behind the campaign “Juntos Encendamos su Mundo esta Navidad” (Together We Light Up Your World this Christmas) is to deliver 12,000 hearing aids batteries for people who need them but have a hard time acquiring them.

The company will donate a hearing Rayovac battery for every 6 alkaline batteries sold in Walmart, Más por menos, Palí and Maxi Palí.

The types of batteries you can buy are:
AA (pack of 4)
AA (pack of 6)
AAA (pack of 12)
AAA (pack of 6)

The initiative is supported by the Foundation Sordos con Vos. This organization advises parents on oral methods and the different types of equipment they can provide to their children through social insurance.

In addition, staff are trained in companies to open job opportunities for deaf people with speaking abilities.

We often lose track of the large percentage of people with hearing problems who lose their hearing due to illness, accidents, stress, toxic drugs or old age, after learning how to speak,”

explained by the Foundation.

The campaign will run until December 31st.
