The CATIE and the CCSS signed an agreement

The “Bajo el Chino” spring will take water to Turrialba new hospital, which will be built in La Susanita community from 2019.

Olga Álvarez, director of the medical center, confirmed that this spring belongs to the Tropical Agronomic Center for Research and Education (CATIE) and the CCSS can use this water due to an agreement signed last Friday.

The agreement establishes the obligations and responsibilities to take water from the spring, as well as to provide a maximum capacity of up to 4 liters per second, which should only be used for medical and health services.

The new hospital will benefit about 100,000 people.

In addition, it will have greater diagnostic and surgical services, as well as more specialties, such as physical therapy, rehabilitation, cardiology and gastroenterology, among others.
