The CCSS has to resolve the crisis at the emergency services

On November 16th, he Ombudsman urged the authorities of the Costa Rican Social Security Fund (CCSS) to address the crisis of its emergency services.

The deficiencies have been reported since 2015, and most of them are related to infrastructure, lack of specialists and lack of human resources.

The Ombudsman’office considers that it should not be forgotten that emergency services, just like any health care service, require excellent planning and organization to generate timely management to meet users’ needs,”

stated the Ombudsman.

The Ombudsman urged the Executive Presidency of the CCSS and the Medical Management to take immediate actions to resolve the situation. The most recent case of saturation in the services occurred last weekend at San Juan de Dios Hospital, where the service collapsed.
