The CCSS will have specialists by 2020

A special plan to increase the number of specialists in the medical centers of the Costa Rican Department of Social Security (CCSS) would be developed in a week and a half, but the results won’t be seen until 2020.

According to Mario Devandas, member of CCSS’ board, anesthetists, cardiologists, orthopedic specialists and radiologists are the most needed specialists in the country, especially in Guanacaste, Zona Sur, Pérez Zeledón and Limón.

The institution also added that the country will have the specialists required by 2020, since many of them require four to seven years of training, and they are studying whether it’s necessary or not to send medical students to train abroad.
