The Citizen Festival of Electric Mobility is coming

The civil organization Costa Rica Limpia is preparing the First Citizen Festival of Electric Mobility. The activity will be held on April 22nd and 23rd in the parking lots of the Municipality of San José from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The fair will have a cultural, non-commercial nature, and will be the first of its kind in the country. Therefore, the alternatives to approach electric buses, the availability of electric bicycles and access to other types of electric mobility alternatives, including vehicles, will be at the hand of those who attend the activity.

According to Monica Araya, director of Costa Rica Limpia, the objective is to educate people about Electric Mobility.

The reception has been excellent on the part of those who want to participate in the festival and, above all, from Costa Ricans who have already switched to electric mobility and want to tell their experiences.

Regarding Mobility, said the expert, the issue is moving forward, but a bill needs to be passed.

At the moment, there are about 300 electric vehicles in the country and 12 recharge points and they will add 10 more points. In addition, we must indicate that 85% of the refills are made at home, so we must break down myths that we are not ready yet (…)”

According to Marcela Guerrero, PAC legislator,

the country is ready to make the leap in terms of electric transport. We have adequate coverage (…), electricity service is available and there is universal access to people and we have the right price for citizens to make this transition.”

Guerrero added that

It is time for Costa Rica to leave behind the technology of hydrocarbons and enter the 21st century.”

As part of the Festival, mini outdoor talks will be offered to explain the operation and advantages of electric vehicles. In addition, there will be conversations with specialized technicians and demonstrations on the methods of recharging electric vehicles.

It is important to mention that the day before the Festival there will be a talk conducted by Christina Bu, President of the Norwegian Association of Electric Vehicles.
