The expansion of Saprissa bridge is creating problems in Tibás

40 families, the municipal authorities of Tibás and members of the Joint Institute for Social Aid (IMAS) met on January 6th in the Municipality of Tibás in order to find a solution to people who will lose their homes with the expansion of Saprissa bridge.

On December 21st about 40 families received a notification from the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MOPT): they were informed that they had 15 days to evacuate their homes because the land belongs to the public entity.

Mayor Carlos Cascante declared that a census was already being conducted and it is expected that the strategies to solve the housing problem are defined in the coming days; the Constitutional Court suspended the eviction until that issue is solved.

Cascante added that Emilio Arias, president of IMAS, has already contacted the affected families. The citizens are requesting that authorities give them more time to carry out the eviction, the support of the IMAS and that to be treated on equal terms.
