The government named two deputy ministers of Labor

On December 20th, it was announced that Carlos Alvarado, current Minister of Labor, would be leaving his position to fight for the presidential candidacy in Partido Acción Ciudadana (PAC).

As consequence of that, the government rushed to name not one but two deputy ministers of Labor. It is a vice-minister of the Labor area and another one for the Solidary Social Economy area.

Lawyer Nancy Marín Espinoza will be in charge of the labor area: she will be responsible for the compliance of labor rights and relations between the union and employer sectors, as well as the implementation process of the Labor Procedural Reform.

Luis Emilio Cuenca Botey will be in charge of the Social Solidarity Economy area: he will coordinate the organizations that are part of it, including cooperatives, solidarity associations and other social organizations.
