Mayor of San José, Johnny Araya informed on October 7th that the municipality and artisans from 13th Street reached an agreement.

The document states that the artisans should move to the new Municipal Market, located next to the Garantías Sociales square, within 3 months.

The Municipality of San José built the building two years ago and invested 1,800 million colones.

I am very pleased. a conflict that lasted years has finally come to an end. We agreed to grant a 3-month period to make the move, which proposes some structural and design changes in the way we are going to place the stands,

declared the mayor.

In addition, artisans applauded the dialogues but they do not trust the term.

The important thing is to continue talking. If the city makes the changes we need, we would accept to move. However, we do not think there should be deadlines,

stated Juan Rodríguez, a spokesman for the artisans.

The agreements must be endorsed by the Assembly of the Association of Artisans and members of the City Council.
