The municipality of San José will invest 220 million colones to stop floods

The municipality of San José has invested 70 million colones so far to improve sewerage in order to make floods in Chinatown a past situation.

Repair work stopped to exhibit art works from El Prado Museum, held on the boulevard. However, they will continue in late November.

Next year we will build a fairly large storm sewer: there are almost 800 meters of pipe with a diameter of at least a meter and a half. By doing this, we will be able to completely eliminate floods in Chinatown,

declared Marco Vinicio Corrales, Provision of Municipal Services manager.

Sewerage begins in Calle 7 and ends at María Aguilar river. The work will cost some more 150 million colones, so that total price is 220 million colones.

The head of Provision of Municipal Services is emphatic that works solve infrastructure problems, but citizens must contribute as well by not throwing garbage on the street because it plugs the sewers.
