The number of people in shelters rises again

The number of people in shelters as a result of the rains and floods of the last hours rose again. This Tuesday there were only 26 people in shelters; however, during the night another 479 from Guanacaste had to be mobilized as a preventive measure. Now, there are 505 people.

This Tuesday there were shelters in Paquera and Paraíso de Puntarenas, but at night other shelters had to be set up in Guanacaste. During the last days the number of shelters had been constantly reduced.

On Wednesday morning, Alexander Solís, president of the National Emergency Commission (CNE), confirmed that the country remains under alert, except for the Caribbean region. The recent atmospheric impact and the forecast for the next days force them to keep the protocols active.

The storm that currently affects the country started 15 days ago, and the country already went through two tropical waves and two low pressure systems. The instability has generated heavy rains and an electrical storm.
