The Supreme Electoral Court will have new members to address the 2018 presidential process

On February 4th, the Supreme Electoral Court (TSE) will increase its membership to five proprietary magistrates in order to address the entire 2018 presidential election process.

Article 100 of the Political Constitution establishes the appointment of two deputy magistrates along with the three proprietary magistrates will rule one year before the voting process and six months after the elections.

Judges Zettybu Valverde and Luis Diego Brenes Villalobos will join in that period.
They will work with presiding magistrate Luis Antonio Sobrado, Eugenia María Zamora Chavarría and Max Alberto Esquivel.

The TSE should also increase their payment: a magistrate’s payment exceeds 5 million colones per month.
