There are 26 people involved in La Trocha case

There are 26 people accused of crimes associated with the construction of the border crossing: Public officials, apparently fake inspectors, as well as businessmen and relatives are involved.

The controversial work, developed since 2010 by the government of Laura Chinchilla Miranda (2010-2014), could reach the judicial stage and it could be considered the most notable corruption case in national history.

According to Jorge Chavarría Guzmán, Attorney General, the economic damage that would have suffered the state coffers exceeds 1,2 billion colones .

According to the investigation, there would have been a criminal connection between officials from the National Road Council (CONAVI) and a group of businessmen.

To that end, the companies and the public entrepreneurs would have used false documentation to charge for a work that wasn’t done.
