American Expatriate Costa Rica

This is Eligio Bishop, cult leader expelled from Costa Rica

Eligio Bishop calls himself God and he is the leader of a cult called “Carbon Nation”, which was expelled from Panama this week.

He already had problems with the authorities in Nicaragua and Costa Rica, but his Central American journey came to an end, after he was allegedly linked to sexual crimes in the United States. This caused the arrest of the 37-year-old man and 17 members of his spiritual cult.

The members of the group leave everything to follow “Natureboy”, who also calls himself the messiah. Apparently, the followers must give credit cards for Bishop to manage all the assets of the group.

According to the faith he professes in social networks, he seeks that people reach a state of unity with nature and reach the level of a conscious God. In addition, he promotes polygamy and apparently criticizes the use of health services.

In 2017, this group lived in Cahuita for several months and was subsequently expelled from the country for its irregular immigration status.

Bishop is originally from New York and international publications point out that he worked there as an exotic dancer and barber, until he proclaimed himself as a spiritual leader.
