This man did not hesitate to save a dog

Gabriel Nuñez, a neighbor of Ciudad Cortés in the Southern Zone, did not hesitate to jump into the water to save a dog that was about to drown, after the Río Grande de Térraba almost completely covered the community, last Thursday.

He spent several hours on the roof of the kiosk located in the community park, along with his stepfather and eight others, when they saw the animal losing the battle against the current that dragged it.

We were trapped in the kiosk and one of the boys saw something coming in the water, when we watched closely , we realized it was a dog that looked tired and I asked who was going, but nobody wanted, so I did it, although I do not know who the dog owner was,”

recalls Gabriel.

The 24-year-old was rescued by other neighbors who had a boat. From his house, they could only rescue two television screens and his brother’s bed.

Right now a friend lent us a house that is higher, because in ours has too much mud. I had experienced a flood before, but it had not affected my house. Nobody was expecting what happened last Thursday,”

assures Nuñez.

The video was recorded by Edgar Zúñiga and shared on the Internet by Bernardo Reyes.
