Tope Highlight of Festival in Palmares

As is the tradition, the height of the annual festival in Palmares was the Tope or horse parade. Bull baiting, eating and drinking beer are also among the favorite activities. This year concerts were organized as part of a Festival Ranchero.

A total of 450 police officers were deployed to secure the event, and 300 paramedics worked, mostly to treat the injured bull baiters. Police arrested 339 people, mostly for narcotics possession and immigration police detained 29 people, who were found be in an irregular immigration status.
