Traffic lights damaged by ICE fire were finally restored

On Monday, the works on traffic lights were completed and the system was restored on the wide street of Las Gravilias in Desamparados (near La Yogi).

It should be mentioned that this service was the only one completely damaged after the fire that occurred last week at the ICE Substation in Desamparados.

To repair it, crews from the General Directorate of Traffic Engineering (DGIT) replaced all infrastructures, and worked with an investment of ₡ 10 million.

After the electrical service in the sector was stabilized, some systems were reprogrammed due to the electrical intermittency that caused time changes in the devices.

Diego Rugama, Head of the Traffic Department, explained that the blackout that occurred in Desamparados due to the fire was a result of high voltage and energy fluctuations. However, Saturday’s blackout was a regular blackout, and once the power was restored there were no variations in the times of the devices.
