Traffic officers arrested a man who attacked a dog with a machete

Traffic officer and injured dog

On Sunday afternoon, traffic officers arrested a man for slashing a dog with a machete just because the animal barked at him near Colegio Castella.

William Chacón, the officer who took care of the case, explained that he was regulating the transit in that area when the subject was passing by. As the dog started barking at a distance of a meter and a half, the man gave it a machete blow that left the dog lying on a public street.

The man told the officers that he was allergic to dog bites of dogs and that is why he used the machete.

We never imagined that he would do that! The dog was lying on the pavement and we thought it was dead because there was so much blood. At no point did the dog approach him to such a degree that he was going to bite,”

explained Chacón.

The officers helped the animal who was injured in the nose and one eye. It was taken to a veterinary clinic for further attention. The man, who had no documents to prove his alleged Nicaraguan nationality, will possibly be transferred to the Public Prosecutor’s office.
