Tropical Wave #42 makes authorities sound the alarms

Due to soil saturation resulting from the rains of the last 15 days, and as a consequence of Tropical Wave #42 on Wednesday afternoon, the National Commission of Emergencies (CNE), modified the alerts.

The entity reported that this is the new status:

Red alert: Districts of Lepanto, Paquera and Cóbano of Puntarenas. In Guanacaste: cantons of Nicoya, Nandayure, Hojancha, Carrillo, and Santa Cruz.

Yellow alert: Central Valley, North Zone, and Sarapiquí. Central and South Pacific. North Pacific: Cantons of La Cruz, Liberia Bagaces, Cañas Abangares, and Tilarán.

The atmospheric conditions are due to the constant moisture from the Pacific Ocean coming into the national territory, which generates a low pressure system in northern Central America, according to the IMN.
