Turrialba Volcano expelled ash and incandescent material

On Saturday, Turrialba Volcano woke up with important eruptive activity and ended the day in the same way.

At 10 p.m. that day, the colossus registered a new eruption, which in addition to ash, released incandescent material, according to the report of the National Volcanological and Seismological Observatory (OVSICORI).

The report by specialist María Martínez explains in detail that the plume rose to 600 meters of the height above the crater. There is no certainty about the time it took for the material to reach those heights.

The ash fall was light in Coronado and surrounding areas. The wind at the time of the eruption was blowing northwest.

In addition to the ash, small hot ballistic missiles were observed at close range, around the western crater.

Throughout Saturday, the volcano was in constant activity, with plumes of ashes and gas that reached heights between 500 and 1000 meters.
