Turrialba Volcano maintains gas and aerosols emissions

Gases, aerosols and some ash particles keep coming out of the active crater of Turrialba Volcano, according to the latest report from the Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Costa Rica National University (OVSICORI-UNA).

The colossus’ seismic activity remains low, but variable in some periods of time.

According to OVSICORI, during the observation periods they get to see a plume rising from 100 to 200 meters with a content of gases, aerosols and sometimes a faint emission of ash particles.

Despite this, there have been no more reports of ashfall in nearby sites. The direction of the wind has been changing between the southwest and northwest.
