Yesterday, a 2-centimeter ash layer coated fields near the western side of Turrialba volcano after its intense volcanic activity that have been taking place for more than a day.

Blas Sánchez, a geologist at the National Emergency Commission (CNE) said that areas such as La Silvia are the most affected.

According to Sánchez, a few hours of heavy rain would make the volcanic ash go to the river. If so, it is the best scenario because rivers in the Caribbean are broad they don’t have flooding problems.

Records from the National Seismological Network (RSN) informed that the Turrialba’s volcanic activity remains constant and it increased on Monday.
