Two Guatemalan women were arrested at Juan Santamaría Airport and they will spend the next three months in prison, because the Criminal Court of Alajuela has issued precautionary measures against them.

Both women, surnamed Muñoz Zermeño and Villatoro Menchú, entered the country with little more than $ 15,000 in cash. That’s why they are suspicious of money laundering.

A tourist reported that she had observed a large amount of money in one of the detainees’ suitcase. After being intercepted, they said thay they didn’t know each other; However, the investigation determined that they were traveling together.

They would have separated in one of the airport toilets, where one placed the money inside her pants and her breast. The other woman spread the bills inside the suitcase.

The tests carried out by the authorities determined that there were drugs on the money, the suitcase and the women’s parts of the body that were in contact with the bills.
