Two Nicaraguans arrested for attempted bribery

Yesterday, officers of the Border Police of the Ministry of Public Security arrested a Nicaraguan man and woman for attempted bribery.

The first case of this crime was reported last Friday in Peñas Blancas de La Cruz, Guanacaste.

The suspect is a Nicaraguan woman, resident in the country, who was traveling on a bus heading towards the downtown Liberia.

When the Border Police was conducting a search in the vehicle, the woman named Borges gave them her passport with 10,000 colones inside, allegedly asking for help for another Nicaraguan national, who was traveling with her with an irregular immigration status.

The 36-year-old woman was arrested and transferred to the Liberia Flagrant Prosecutor’s Office.

The prosecution ordered confiscating the money and sending her companion to the Office of Immigration.

In addition, other agents arrested a Nicaraguan man named Montero in a bus, while conducting a regular revision on Sunday

At first, the man was apprehended for carrying a “dubious” residency card, but when he was transferred to immigration offices in Liberia, he offered 40 thousand colones for his release. For this reason, he was arrested immediately.
