Uber drivers demonstrated against violence

About 50 representatives of Uber drivers conducted a demonstration on Tuesday, with the aim of drawing the attention of the government and the authorities, since they want to define their labor situation.

According to one of the leaders who organized the activity and asked to remain in anonimity,

the activity started due to the harassment we have been suffering in recent days by the Traffic Police and red taxi drivers. Uber’s comrades go out to work in fear and that is not right because they are not criminals… What we do is a decent and honest job and that is why we want to be respected, because we are Costa Rican citizens. The demonstration aims to make the population and the government feel we do not want more violence… How far will this go? Until they kill an Uber partner?”

With this activity, the driver said, they hope the government tells them what is going to happen to them, because they cannot continue working in fear.

The leader said that they requested support from the Public Force to accompany them on their trip to the Legislative Assembly.
