UCCAEP: “increasing workers’ contributions by 1% can help the IVM”

The Costa Rican Union of Chambers and Associations of the Private Business Sector (UCCAEP) admits that increasing workers’ contributions by 1% will inevitably affect their economy. However, they support the measure.

We must see it as a measure to preserve the pension fund. The sustainability of the regime is an issue that belongs to all parties involved, so we will support the measures that help us solve this problem in the long term,

declared Franco Arturo Pacheco, president of UCCAEP.

The business sector makes contributions of 6.08% to the IVM, which is the most important contribution the institution receives; the State gives 1.24% and workers xould provide 3.84%.
