Unions insist on maintaining an “indefinite strike”

On Saturday, the unions that lead street demonstrations since September 10th, insisted on maintaining the call for a general strike.

Trade unions want, among other things, to maintain a series of privileges for public sector employees, and for a basic basket free of taxes.

In a press release distributed on Saturday afternoon, they complain about the suppression of the demonstrations in different areas of the country, such as La Garita de Alajuela, Barranca in Puntarenas, Ochomogo and Limón.

They also blamed the government for maintaining a “social crisis” and for refusing “to open a real dialogue table”.
