Upala Hospital implemented the Health Digital Record (EDUS)

Upala Hospital implemented the Health Digital Record (EDUS) in its emergency department, which enables the institution to offer a faster and better service to users.

Xinia Cordero, an official of the Directorate of EDUS, declared that in the first 4 days of its implementation, 796 people received medical care.

Cordero explained that among the advantages offered by the tool, it is the traceability of information:

This computer interaction between the health sector and Upala Hospital offers great advantages to users who enter emergency rooms, because the doctor can see all their medical history. It is possible to know if a patient is a diabetic, hypertensive person, if the patient suffers from any allergies, as well as the medications that the person is consuming at that time. This is important in a service where many of our patients arrive unconscious or can hardly communicate.

The use of this tool makes Upala Hospital the first institution in the Chorotega Region in completing the implementation of the first block of the EDUS project.

It is intended that by the end of the year hospitals in Liberia and Nicoya implement the service.
