The vehicular restriction applied from Monday to Friday in the central town of San José will also go on vacation from July 4th to July 15th, just like students do.
The decision is based on previous year records, in which there is a significant reduction in the number of vehicles entering the capital city since primary and secondary school students and teachers are on vacation. In addition, some parents also go off on vacation with their children.
“Removing the restriction will not worsen traffic problems because if we only count students, about one million of them will no longer attend schools and colleges located in San José. This means less buses and less private cars. Teachers will not enter San José in rush hours and many parents will be on vacation too,”
explained Mario Calderón, director of Traffic Police.
Based on this situation, it is better to assign this team to control and regulate traffic in beaches and rural areas.
