Video shows lagoon of Irazú Volcano is resurfacing

Henry Villalta, park ranger at the Irazu Volcano National Park, said the lagoon is forming again.

It finally dried in January 2013, and now it has three weeks that it looks like it will be resurface and it will be a long process,”

said Villalta.

The ranger said he saw the same color in the lagoon as before the year 2013.

The water level has gradually risen and has not been filtered, probably the large amount of ash from Turrialba Volcano that has fallen has made the bottom of the main crater impermeable,”

explained Villalta.

He said that the rains will possibly increase the water level deposited in the crater.

Villalta noted that the lagoon was one of the main attractions of the volcano.
