What about school, buses and hospitals’ appointments?

The entire country is on alert for the imminent arrival of Hurricane Otto, which will make landfall on national territory around noon today.

The Ministry of Public Education (MEP) suspended lessons in ALL public schools and colleges, regardless of whether they are located in areas affected by Hurricane Otto or not.

Universidad Latina announced through its social networks the decision to suspend lessons.

Fidélitas also suspended lessons today at its three campuses, but will keep the public attention.

Universidad Creativa suspended lessons.

San Judas Tadeo University will close its doors today at noon.

International University of the Americas suspended lessons today. Tomorrow it will announce if the measure is maintained.

Universidad Iberoamericana will suspend lessons and administrative work today.

Castro Carazo University suspended lessons and administrative activities today and tomorrow.

Hispanoamericana: the headquarters located in Aranjuez, Llorente de Tibás, Heredia and the School of Architecture will remain open because “they are not in zones of impact”. For the moment, only the headquarters of Puntarenas will be closed for today.

Veritas University will maintain normal hours until further notice.

Silvia Bolaños Executive Director of the National Carriers Chamber (CANATRANS), explained that until Wednesday afternoon, buses in the metropolitan area worked normally. However, in some affected areas in the South and in the Caribbean, they have had to reduce the frequency of the travels.

Bolaños also said that CANATRANS handles the updated information on the closure of routes, so users can check if there is service’s suspension by calling at  2283-1820.

Hospitals, clinics and EBAIS that are outside the cantons on red alert will work normally. The holiday decreed by the Government does not apply to health personnel. But 3 medical sites in the North area suspended medical services, scheduled surgeries and scheduled patient transfers.
