Women demand justice, judge installed a camera in women’s bathroom

I know I was recorded. It’s very uncomfortable. It was done without our consent and the Judiciary should set the example.”

This is how an official of the Courts of Justice of Heredia explains the outrage against a judge who placed a camera in the women’s bathroom.

She prefers to remain anonymous, but assures that she feels outraged. On the outskirts of room 7 another woman raises her voice and shouts

he is not mentally ill, he is a patriarchal male.”

In the courtroom there is a judge named Hilje who appears as a suspect in a private hearing after the Public Ministry and the National Institute for Women appealed a dismissal rendered in favor of the civil judge.

At the administrative level, he was dismissed a few months ago but keeps the process open in the Contentious Administrative Court.

The case goes back to December 2015 when a judicial officer discovered the recording device in a bathroom of the Courts.
