Work to fix roads affected by Nate continues

MOPT and Conavi continue cleaning operations on all routes affected by tropical storm Nate to restore regulated transit and enable other institutions to provide basic services such as water and electricity.

Of the total of 539 damages registered so far on 121 routes, 340 points were already enabled, 161 points have regulated transit and work continues to enable in the coming days the 38 points that remain closed.

As part of the cleaning efforts the national route 335 from San Ramon North to Los Angeles de Páramo was enabled on Saturday night. This allows Force and Light crews to enter and restore electricity to the community of Zaragoza.

Another route with regulated transit is route 742, where the crews achieved cleaned multiple landslides in record time.

The neighbors of this community have also joined efforts to re-establish the transit.

Only in San Isidro del Tejar and La Cangreja about 10 landslides of great magnitude that represent about 3000 cubic meters of material were already removed. Other points of route 2 in which serious damages are identified are: El Brujo / Palmar Norte, Villamills, La Auxiliadora, Division, El jardín/ San Isidro del General.

In Interamericana Sur, the works have two fronts, with about 42 teams, so that they can advance as fast as possible within the conditions of instability in the corridor.

MOPT and Conavi will continue working on the solution for the transit on Interamericana Norte, at near Cambronero.

Meanwhile, work continues on national routes 620 Santa Elena / Monteverde, 608 Puntarenas / Corredores, 906 Guanacaste / Talarán and 707 Alajuela / Escobal , which are currently closed. However, efforts are made to enable regulated transit on the main corridors (national routes), since many of the closed points also go through cantonal routes that operate as alternates, which has reduced the impact for affected communities.
