Writ of amparo against the Government for suspending BCR board

Officials of the Bank of Costa Rica (BCR) suspended from their positions on Tuesday filed a writ of amparo against the injunction imposed by the Governing Council and Presidential House.

This was explained by Mónica Segnini, an entrepreneur who held the presidency of the board of directors.

The precautionary measure applied against us is a serious violation of our right to due process of law and the right to public function, work, honor, image, morality, reputation and institutional autonomy of the BCR,”

explained Segnini.

The businesswoman also added that this appeal suspends the administrative act, which will invalidate any decision taken by the new board of directors appointed by Presidential House.

Segnini believes the precautionary measure issued by the Presidential House lacked formality, because the consequences were not measured. She emphasized that there is a legal vacuum on the payment of subsistence allowances, which would continue to be paid even if they do not attend the sessions.
