Zika and dengue cases are increasing!

The Ministry of Health informed that out of the 946 confirmed cases of zika, there are 11 pregnant women. Those cases have increased compared to the previous report.

Rodrigo Marín, vector control coordinator from the Ministry, said that it is a normal percentage if it is compared to many other countries where the disease is taking place.

A curious fact is that there are more infected women than men. There are 2 reasons that could explain that: women are more prone to the disease than men. We have to remember that it was proved that it can be sexually transmitted from man to woman, not so much from woman to man,

declared Marín.

There are communities that worry authorities the most, as 13 to 17 new cases were confirmed in a short period, for example, Limón, Puntarenas and Carmona, in the same region.

Other communities like Sardinal, Santa Cruz, Tárcoles, Jacó and El Roble in the Pacific, had 4 to 7 new confirmed cases in the last 3 weeks.

Another situation that was informed in the last report is the increase of more than 600 cases of dengue in places like Atenas. This community went from 412 cases to 1,159.

Health authorities insist that prevention starts at home.
