18 foreigners rescued from human trafficking

Nearly twenty foreigners were rescued by officers of the Public Force while in a bus used for people trafficking in Quepos.

In a press release, the Ministry of Security reported that a roadblock stopped a man who was driving a bus that exceeded its passenger capacity and transported 18 people whose immigration status was irregular.

The other occupants identified themselves as Panamanians, except for six of them who apparently were minors. These people were taken to the General Directorate of Immigration, since they did not register a regular entry to the country,”

said the statement.

The arrested man is surnamed Chong, 61, and was taken to court.
