A campaign to have a clean city

Cartago municipality

Only in 2016, the local government collected more than 565 tons of waste from public roads.

Rolando Rodríguez, mayor of Cartago, declared that despite the efforts made by the municipality to have a clean city, many people throw garbage in vacant lots, which end up becoming clandestine dumps.

We need people to commit to not throw garbage: to take care of the environment is everyone’s responsibility,

stated Rodríguez.

He added that the inhabitants have a very important function if they collaborate actively denouncing those who throw waste in public places:

All of these wastes affect our life quality, they violate our constitutional right to live in a healthy environment and propitiate greate problems when there are floods during the winter,

informed Rodríguez.

The campaign includes placing sign in several parts of the canton, spreading information through the media and social networks and direct contact with the population.
