A health fair provided information regarding contraception methods and STIs

On October 26th, a health fair, organized by advanced students of Pharmacy from the University of Costa Rica (UCR), started.

The activity ran until 3:00 pm, and it provided information on methods of contraception and testing for sexually transmitted infections.

Cinthya Chaves, pharmacy student and one of the participants in the fair, explained that it is carried out within the framework of a class called Elements of Public Health. Similar activities have been conducted previously, such as the medicine collection fair.

Attendees had the advice of different health professionals, including professors at the university and partners of companies who joined in organizing the fair.

Tests were performed to detect sexually transmitted infections, which cost 3,000 colones for women, while for men they were completely free. According to Chaves, the latter represent the most affected population by this kind of condition.

As part of the fair, there was a zumba class at 10 in the morning. All people could attend it.
