Araya: “I am worried because of the Civil Aviation new provisions”

San José mayor Jhonny Araya is worried because of the new provisions from the Civil Aviation to grant construction permits in areas near Tobias Bolaños Airport. He considers that it is a mistake and it is paralyzing the development of the city.

The mayor said that since 2007 there were standards that allowed buildings to be built at a certain height, but the new provisions of Civil Aviation changed them completely.

These changes mean, from his point of view, a limitation to the opportunities for the growth of the city and all the development it was having.

He stated that despite their argument of being following the standards from the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), the previous ones had been established by a former director of that organization.

He’s also concerned about the paralysis of large projects because great amounts of money have already been invested in the purchase of lands.

On this issue, Enio Cubillo, director of Civil Aviation, has stated that the entity does not intend to paralyze development, but his responsibility is to guarantee security and because of that, they are acting this way.
