Authorities have identified a suspect for killing wild animals

As informed by Yeimy Cedeño, Refugio Nacional de Vida Silvestre Ostional manager, the suspect of killing wild animals (monkeys and squirrels) in Tamarindo beach, has already been identified.

Last week a subject took advantage of his Facebook profile to accuse the suspect: according to him, he kills any animal located in the courtyard of his house.

I shared the video because we must do something,

declared complainant Carlos Molina.

Cedeño, an official from the National System of Conservation Areas (SINAC) of the Ministry of Environment and Energy (MINAE), informed that some colleagues had visited the accused’s house, but the person denied the accusations.

In addition, she explained that the penalty for killing monkeys or endangered animals is 1 to 3 years in prison. In the case of squirrels, which are a species that is not in danger, the fine goes from 1 to 5 base salaries or prison for 1 to 4 months.
