BCR alerts on new scam

The National Bank of Costa Rica (BCR) is calling its customers to warn them about of a new scam through phone calls.
According to the bank, the criminals are trying to obtain sensitive data from users of the bank’s services, by pretending to be bank suppliers who need to make transactions in the customer’s favor.

“They immediately contact an alleged bank representative, who asks for passwords, pins and tokens, using recordings from our call center”

, explained the bank.

The entity reminds its customers that:
1. Neither the bank, nor its officers will require tokens, passwords, account numbers or pin, by phone.
2. No bank representative will ask for money for any banking procedure.
3. If you have questions about our services, call 2212-2000.
