Beware with what you share through social networks

Before the existence of social networks, parents could embarrass their children showing their old photo albums. Now, it is estimated that the first pictures of a baby do not take more than 24 hours to reach the web.

However, some experts do not approve it and ask parents to be careful, since in many cases, the child’s life is too exposed.

Sometimes that old and embarrassing photo becomes a memory in Facebook. But sometimes, personal information of a child, such as having behavior problems, end up being in the public domain,

declared Bahareh Keith, assistant professor of pediatrics at the Medical School of the University of Florida.

According to Keith, the things that parents show on the Internet, the good and the not so good, leave a lasting “fingerprint” in children, and it may have psychological repercussions for them.

What to do?

-Never show photos of your child in any state of nudity.
-Beware! Publications give the accurate location of your child.
-If you go to the Internet looking for information about behavior problemas, keep all the information you share anonymous.

The biggest concern is the child’s privacy, and if the images and information that parents share will hurt them in any way, now or in a few years,

concluded the expert.

One of the tips is to think ahead: consider how the photo or information you share in social networks will affect your child’s self-esteem.
