Boot Camp to Strengthen trade with Central America

In order to facilitate the conditions and generate greater trade among Central American exporters, private sector leaders from the region participated last week in the “Boot Camp to Strengthen Advocacy on the issue of trade facilitation”.

Representatives of the Chamber of Exporters of Costa Rica (Cadexco) participated with the clear aim of influencing trade facilitation issues that benefit exporters at the regional level.

Central America is Costa Rica’s second largest trading partner, accounting for 24% of exports. Last year 1,307 Costa Rican companies exported to the region, for a total of $ 2,316 million.

The idea is to tackle the challenges in the region to simplify customs procedures, apply controls on risk criteria, improve the infrastructure of border crossing points and redouble efforts to address the problem of insecurity and thefts that affects exporters.
