Bus drivers threaten to go on indefinite strike

The transportation sector threatens ARESEP (Regulatory Authority of Public Services) to go on an indefinite strike if the new fare plan is implemented because, according to them, many companies would go bankrupt and it would cause the dismissal of 15,000 employees.

The pressure measure was announced on Wednesday when about 150 bus drivers were part of a demonstration.

If the fare plan comes into force, almost 5,000 units of buses won’t work and it will affect users across the country because they need public transportation to get to different places.

According to Drivers’ National Forum’s reports, the new fare would set prices assuming that all buses travel at full capacity 24 hours a day. It would generate great rate reductions, causing their bankrupt.
