Cartago streets are still in bad shape

A few weeks ago the neighbors and the Municipality of Cartago raised the voice asking the National Council of Roads (CONAVI) to intervene several national routes that pass through the province.

Rolando Rodríguez, mayor of the canton, said that after the bust in the sector of Ochomogo, there were no further interventions on the roads.

“The only thing we have seen so far are the works in front of RECOPE… We have not seen absolutely any other work in our city and our streets are still as deteriorated as we have indicated on many occasions,” said Rodríguez.

The mayor asked the engineer in charge of the work a schedule with the interventions to be conducted in the Old Metropolis, “but we do not have it yet. We are not been heard… We have been complaining about this for months,” added Rodríguez.

CONAVI announced they will carry out asphalt works in the province since last Saturday, January 28th. This contract would allow to carry out the work in different routes of Cartago that need to be repaired.

Rodríguez explained that, in the meantime, the citizens’ complaints about the bad state of the roads continue to arrive.

The neighbors cannot distinguish between national and cantonal streets… So the municipality is the one getting all the complaints,

said Rodríguez. The municipality extended an invitation to the Minister of Public Works and Transport, Carlos Villalta, to visit the community.
