Casa de Paz gives a second chance to former, convicted women once they are released from prison and have nowhere to go.

The center will temporarily provide food and shelter to women who were held at the Buen Pastor Center for Institutional Care (CAI). This is a project from Siervos del Buen Pastor Association.

Nuria Chinchilla, president of the Association, explained that the project was born due to the work done in the association, which allowed them to identify the needs of convicted women once they are out of prison.

Building the house was possible thanks to the work of the members of the association, who managed to raise funds and set up the property, which is located 150 meters south of the Los Angeles Church in Heredia.

It has 9 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and common areas such as lounges for training of crafts and lectures, a chapel, a dining room, a laundry room and a kitchen. It can currently house 10 women, but it has the capacity to accommodate up to 20 ladies.

The criminal center, Social Adaptation and other institutions that help women are involved in the project.
