CCSS accused of investing Ebais money in parking lot

Legislator Marta Arauz denounced before the plenary that the Costa Rican Social Security Fund (CCSS) apparently used the money budgeted for improvements in the Ebais in Coralillo de Nicoya to invest in a parking lot.

According to the legislator, the sum amounts to more than ¢ 80 million.

For seven years the development association and community leaders have been requesting the CCSS to repair and improve the physical plant of the Coralillo Ebais,”

said the congresswoman.

According to Arauz, the medical center is in

very bad conditions, which were aggravated by the last earthquake in Nicoya. Last year, they were promised priority in the projects of the CCSS, but now we see with dismay that part of the budget allocated for those improvements were taken to enable a parking lot.”

Arauz added that there will be no greater repair in any of the five Ebais of Nicoya, because only 12 million colones will be distributed among medical centers.
