CNE may expand attention in areas affected by Nate

The National Commission of Emergencies (CNE) will be able to extend its attention in the areas affected by tropical storm Nate last October.
On Thursday, the Legislative Plenary approved in second reading a bill authorizing the CNE to hire up to a maximum of 300 machine hours to clean the affected areas. Currently, the limit is 100 hours.

The initiative promoted by Jorge Rodríguez, from the Christian Social Unity Party (PUSC), modifies the final paragraph of article 15 of the National Law on Emergencies and Risk Prevention.

We are giving a new tool to the CNE to deal with the storm’s consequences so that it can work without an official declaration from the Executive Power,”

said Rodríguez.
